It’s Getting Dark

I saw my mind and it was dark. The only way to see what the darkness hid was by painting. This is what I found.

On being human

In a society obsessed with being happy, we lose so much of what makes us human by pretending that darkness of our minds does not exist. There is depth and beauty in the dark. It is where we fight, it is where we grow, and it is what allows us to fully appreciate contentment. My work is a gentle reminder to acknowledge our darkest thoughts and embrace the full experience of what it means to be human. We are so much more than smiles and laughs.

In a world that tells you who you should be and what you should want, discovering who you are and what you want is violence.
Welcome to the beautiful fight.

I have no memories of my life before art. My grandmother, my chief babysitter, my guide, gave me the tools and knowledge of the craft, she gave herself away to me and I absorbed her. Her friends welcomed me into their coven. It was me at 7, 12, 14, 18 years old, and a group of 75 year old women drinking wine who taught me the right kind of crazy, who showed me the fire of obsession and love. None of them are left now and yet they live on with me and because of me.

I’m a Chemical Engineer, an MBA, and an entrepreneur who finally decided to find herself. I am obsessed with breathing life into portraits, with depicting emotions beyond and greater than words, in the mystery behind human interactions and the darkest recesses of the human mind.
